What is the Glorious Gardens Box?

“I perhaps owe it to flowers that I became a painter,” Monet once said. But Monet is not the only artist to have been inspired by a garden. Gardens and art have often gone hand-in-hand. From medieval depictions of the Garden of Eden to the ‘Dig (vegetable beds) for Victory’ posters of the Second World War, portrayals of gardens have conveyed a multitude of messages. They represent the very beginning of life; they symbolise love; and they conjure up feelings of comfort, calm and hope. Spending time in nature is good for the soul. And looking at paintings of places of natural beauty can also bring great joy and solace.
