Cardboard Shaped Frames

Rummage through your recycling bin for cardboard, the thinner the better (this will be easier to cut) – your LoLA boxes or cereal boxes would work well.

Think about what art piece(s) you might be framing and measure accordingly. Cut your cardboard into a general rectangular shape, then cut out a space in the centre to place the art in/on.

You can trim the edges of your rectangle or cut them in scallops or waves. We also like to add on extra shapes, squiggles, stripes, dots and stars with more cardboard (and strong glue) to give a sense of 3D and a little texture.

You can leave your frame like this in brown cardboard colour or you can paint to your heart’s content! You could also collage on pompoms, decorative paper, gems, stickers, glitter, bottle tops, foil (to create a silver effect!) and so on and so on!
