In this box we look at three artists who have been particularly fascinated by mankind’s discoveries in outer space – Andy Warhol with his prints of astronauts and the “Moonwalk”, Wassily Kandinsky and his abstract ‘planet’ circles, and Alma Woodsey Thomas with her mosaic-like paintings of rockets and space launches.

What is inside the Splendid Space Box?
Space art first “took off” in 1877 when Jules Verne (author of Around the World in 80 Days) published a novel called ‘Off on a Comet’. Before that, nobody had depicted other planets as places that you could actually stand on—places that you could look up from, rather than to!
This box celebrates Space Art in its many forms, from flying rockets zooming off to space, to astronauts walking on the moon, from painted moon-mobiles, to colourful planet dioramas.

When will my box be delivered?
You will receive your box 3-4 days after ordering. Your order is processed in 48 hrs and posted using Royal Mail 48hr Tracked. You will receive an email with a tracking number confirming your box has been posted, and can check on your delivery using the tracking number on the Royal Mail website.
