What's the story behind Lovely Landscapes?
Part of the skill in creating a landscape painting is deciding which areas to show and which ones to leave out. Artists don’t always depict an entire outdoor scene. Sometimes they show a vast meadow while at other times they paint only the corner of a field. In this LoLA box, we collaborated with the wonderful artist Carolyn Gavin, and include an extra activity inspired by her use of bright colours and textures, explore colour blocking in contrasting hues.
