Fantastic Faces
Little Ones Art Box

Each human face is unique. Johannes Vermeer, Chris Ofili and Frida Kahlo have something in common: namely, the ability to grab our attention with their vibrant use of colour and light, and spark our curiosity with the enigmatic emotions on their subjects’ face.

What's the story behind Fantastic Faces?

There are few things as fantastic as the human face, each one unique, yet so easily recognisable on a second viewing. We “read” a lot into people’s faces – a person’s past history and their present mood. And we judge them for their beauty and we try to guess their age. But faces are fickle. Their owners can change them according to the impression they want to give. Whereas a photographer can only capture the pose his subject wishes to project, an artist can see behind the surface and depict something deeper than the mere outside appearance.
