Bold Beasts Art Box

This art box investigates artists’ imaginings of mythical beasts and wild animals. Inspired by Pablo Picasso and his interest in the Minotaur, by Karel Appel and his child-like, mixed-up animal creations; by Henri Rousseau’s tiger, a wild and exotic creature he had never actually seen; and finally by legendary dragons from different cultures around the world.

What is inside the Bold Beasts Box?

From fairies and dragons to unicorns and trolls, we are all fascinated by stories of mythical creatures that have sprung out of the human imagination. And imaginary beasts, from part-human, animal hybrids to entirely fantastical critters, have also captured the attention of artists.

In this art box, discover your own bold beasts –make a cardboard minotaur mask, paint imaginary mixed up creatures, print the stripes of a wild cat peeking out of the jungle, and finally (using the template included) create your own flying fiery dragon!
