What's the story behind Awesome Architecture?
From time immemorial, people have built huts and wooden houses to protect themselves from the weather. As civilizations grew and matured, so did their buildings. The Ancient Egyptians built large temples and structures like the Great Pyramids; while the Ancient Greeks and Romans developed what we now call “Classical Architecture”. Different architectural styles evolved in different parts of the world, and styles also changed over time. Towards the end of the 19th Century architects began to use metal girders and concrete in their buildings and that made a whole new style of construction possible. Modernism is the name for the architectural style which developed because of these new building technologies. Today’s architecture is often described as “post-modern”.
