Now that much of our Christmas shopping is being done online, the big question is: “Where to look?” Well, we are encouraging everyone to shop small this year. (We are proud to say that we have been nominated for Holly Tucker’s Independent Awards 2020 for our LoLA boxes.) It has been estimated that for every £1 spent with a small business, 63p stays in the local economy – one very good reason for shopping small! Here’s a few of our favourite sources for Christmas…
If you are able to visit the Molly Meg store, you should go for it. It really has something for everyone. While doing pop-up LoLA workshops there last year, we perused every inch of the shelves. Molly puts together such wonderful collections.
There is something special about drinking coffee out of a hand-made mug. We have lots of coffee-drinkers in our family, so these characterful cups could be making someone we know very happy this year!.
Alice in Scandiland
Some of this firm’s Scandinavian designs for the home could be artworks in themselves. We’re going to hang this coaster on the wall at Christmas time!
We are POP
Looking for gifts for your children’s friends? ‘We are POP’ has some really fun giant animals which would make great subjects to draw.
We got sucked in to Berylune by their great collection of colourful candles. But, actually, their stocking-fillers are great fun too – like the chocolate tin of sardines below:
What a treasure trove there is in this store originally famous for its ribbons and bows! From fancy fringes to embroidered fabrics, it can add a creative spark to any season. Create your own napkin rings for the Christmas table and then adorn your wrapping with VV Rouleaux’s velvet ribbon. Or try their head-band-making kit!Back to the main news page
